Our CREATING COMMUNITY Meeting
Saturday, February 28, 2-4 pm
View the video "Visions of Utopia", which reports on intentional communities across the nation -- including cohousing and ecovillages. Discussion with representatives of local intentional community initiatives follows.
At North Park Village Nature Center, 5801 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago.
Depending on the audience interests, we may only show the cohousing and ecovillages segments of the 94 minute video, before focusing on the future of these community forms in our region.
INTENTION / MOTIVATION
Making our planet better for all starts with revisioning the way we live at home. Cohousing and ecovillages are growing options for many of us. They offer ways of reclaiming an enhanced role for community -- a necessity for attaining a sustainable high quality way of life.
A dozen people from our area, with the above intention, attended the Sept 12-14, 2003 Communities Conference in Ohio, to find out more about enhancing community here. This is a followup meeting.
THE VIDEO, Visions of Utopia,
was completed in June '02. It showcases seven very diverse contemporary communities including Nyland Cohousing, in Colorado, 42 units, completed 1993 and Earthaven Ecovillage, North Carolina, founded in 1995.

COHOUSING - involves some shared living space
Coordinated by the Chicago Cohousing Network, new groups are emerging in Evanston, Oak Park and Aurora.
